Thanks to Forest & Bird for having me at your AGM on the climate change panel today. Great to meet the incredibly passionate Sophie Handford who organised the school climate strikes. We must wrestle our emissions down to do our part and the climate commission is a good vehicle for us to do that. We must follow the best available science, reduce emissions by adopting new technologies as they become available while keeping pace with our global partners.
Net zero by 2050 is a massive meaty target which is going to be a huge challenge for New Zealand but it is possible. The climate commission bill is making its way through my select committee now and submissions are open until 16 July.
