PETITION DETAILS:

Along Rosedale Road, between East Coast Road and Apollo Drive, there is no safe place for pedestrians to cross the road. A large volume of students walk to Rangitoto College, and cut through the Malin Place walkway to access homes around Killybegs Drive. I also know residents of local Retirement Villages find attempting to cross safely quite a terrifying task.

 

A pedestrian crossing needs to be installed in the vicinity of Malin Place to provide a safe option for school students and residents to cross an extremely busy road. It would also be very useful for those wanting to access the shops and medical centre. The back of this letter shows a map of the area highlighting the probable location of the crossing for your reference.

 

September last year I asked Auckland Transport to review the situation and install a pedestrian crossing. The response was that we had to wait until the new financial year before it would be considered. It’s now the new financial year, so I need your support to lobby Auckland Transport to prioritise this crossing as part of their Community Initiated Programme.
