About the Event
Murray McCully is my guest speaker for our April morning tea.
Murray became MP for East Coast Bays in 1987… I was just 9 years old. He served the East Coast Bays community until his retirement in 2017, when I took his place.
Over his career, McCully held senior ministerial appointments as Minister of Customs and Associate Minister of Tourism in 1991, then Minister of Housing, Minister of Immigration and Minister for Sport, Fitness and Leisure.
However, he is mostly known for his role as Minister of Foreign Affairs which began after the 2008 elections. He held this portfolio until May 2017. He had a reputation as a party strategist and "fix-it man".
